HOW TO SAVE MONEY ON BABY CLOTHES/ CÓMO AHORRAR DINERO CON LA ROPA DE BEBÉ/NIÑO.

Ok, so you have a baby, now what?

Before the pandemic started, I got a two months old at home.

At that point, I was not wondering: What do I buy? as the baby is so tiny is just going to be waring onesies and pijamas and bodysuits. But It has come to a time where the baby starts to make attempts to walk and I felt the need she should look nice, specially for going out in the near future.

Here are some advantages and errors I have made and how I concluded in the best way of saving money in baby clothes:

Has tenido un bebé, y ahora qué?

1- The first year is not too much of a fuss. Never discard the second hand idea.

Right before the pandemic ( and thank God!) I was interchanging clothes and buying clothes second hand from mums on Facebook. I can honestly say I only both a couple of pieces brand new, and these clothes are in such a good condition, that when my baby wore them off, I was glad to pass them on to other mums. They were new!

2- Don't buy for the future.

By the time the baby is getting to one year old, and I was around the shops, I started buying random clothes, that "will fit her" in a few months, whatever it was on sales was valid as long as I liked it. Mistake! (keep reading why)

3- Give yourself and idea of how you want to dress the baby.

When I run out of clothes for her ( second hand) then I reached out my super cool idea of buying clothes for the "near future", guess what? I looked at the mini wardrobe and there were random pieces, several colours ( too much baby pink) that I did not want her to wear any more, logos, nothing made sense!

by the time your baby is one, you kind of have an idea what you want to dress them with, and that wasn't it.

4- Create a colour palette.

Believe me. Sounds too much? You will save money for sure.

There is always certain colours you lean towards, so write them down, even better, find them in google, print screen a square of it, and put them in a word or power point to view them all together, and combine them together.

5- Do not buy anything that does not fit NOW.

Guess what? All those clothes bought in advance, they either do not fit ( yes you think your baby is going to grow a certain way to fit that brand an then she doesn't) or suddenly the weather has changed, and actually she is not going to wear those winter pieces you were certain she was going to.

6- Buy a mini collection and stick with it.

Stick to a number of pieces, say 5-10, for the next three months ( or however fast your baby grows) and stick to it.

Yes, that will do, in the colours you have chosen, combine them between them, buy them in season, and in the actual baby size, right now, and be done with it.

Having a rule for yourself of not buying anything else.

Clothes to be at home, are the ones that get dirty and get washed the most, so stick to sweat pants and sweaters to stay at home and leave the mini collection for going out.
