Here is my selection of the best shoes for summer, the ones that are comfortable, give you versatility and effortless vibe and why.
Scrolling down below you will find what shoes I avoid and why.
Happy reading!
WINNER SHOES
Year after year I reach for these types of shoes. It immediately makes me feel feminine and fab, and they are so comfortable! They go well with skirts and trousers.
2- STRAPPY SANDALS
Choose a comfortable heel, and you are good to go. For a more dainty look on the feet, which will give a great contrast with a rough material jean. Love them!
3- THE "STAND OUT" SLINGBACK
Again, another type of shoe I reach out again and again, I did not know they could be so comfortable and look great with anything!
I realise I tend to want them in a vibrant colour or metallic, they work better with any outfit to give a fun yet elegant approach. The colour and the sling-back style give it the casual look I look for in most outfits. Neutral colours make me feel like I am going to the office.
4- THE FLAT THONG SANDALS
I have stopped caring if my feet are wide or slim to wear this type of sandal. I have avoided them year after year, however, just to come to realise these types of sandals elongate the legs, period, and every time I wear them, not only work with an outfit by elongating the leg, but they are comfortable too!
I sometimes want a more subtle touch to an outfit, then I want to reach for something more dainty or girly in the shoe area.
5- THE "CHUNKY ENOUGH" FLAT SANDALS
I love a chunky sandal, it gives the edge to any outfit. However, if they are too chunky, or with a platform, they can look too much on the feet, making them not look in proportion with the rest of the body, so I choose styles like below.
6- THE WHITE TRAINERS
A white trainer is a must, a simple, but not all-white trainer, with a minor detail in it.
I like to combine two neutral colours, so it goes with different neutrals you may wear in the same outfit, other than white. I would not choose them very "sporty" either, since they may kill the vibe if I want a more "put-together" outfit, the below gives just the right amount of casual.
7- THE PUNCHY TRAINERS
Here is where I like the fun. If the colour is too punchy, I feel too sporty or too young, so the below are my favourites and as punchy as it gets for me.
SHOES I AVOID AND WHY
They look amazing, but the reality is, they don't go with everything. I have two pairs and I have to check what I wear as an outfit, since they cut my legs short, so they are not an "effortless" shoe.
2- MARY JANE BALLERINAS
Personally, I think any woman looks twelve years old wearing them, I am not into the trend, as much as I think they are comfortable.
3- MESH BALLET FLATS
No comments here. These shoes are going out of style as soon as they have arrived. I don't find them flattering in anybody and they don't look comfortable to me.
4- THONG HEEL SANDALS
They look gorgeous, but I don't want to try them. They don't look comfortable to me, and I would feel like my feet are slippery in the front all the time.
There you have it. My go-to and avoid shoes for the summer.
Any favourite or what you would NOT wear?
